Galen’s Annual New Years Ride – 2012Wednesday, January 11th, 2012It was a cold Saturday morning when 13 of us gathered in front of Galen’s house. I could not help but notice the strange looks Galen’s neighbors were giving us. They had this look on their face like… hey do not you guys know that it is winter and that it is cold outside and that there is snow on the ground…. who rides bicycles in weather like this? Well the answer is, IC3. Thanks to Galen and his family for hosting what is becoming a annual event, Galen’s New Years Ride. Before leaving for a ride down the Cherry Creek bike path Galen lead the group in a prayer. Galen then let the group put in prayer requests. We had a great ride down the trail. We did a short loop out to Cheery Creek Reservoir before heading down to REI. We picked-up a rider as we headed back from Village Green park. I have forgot his name but I knew him from the Bicycle Village Aurora rides. I was amazed at how many other riders were out on the trail. Denver definitely has some hard core bicycle riders. We stopped at REI and had some hot drinks and food before heading out. At REI we ran in to the Bicycle Village ride who was also having their first ride of the new year. On the way back we did a short loop around the Sport Authority Stadium. Josh Taylor took a photo of the group in front of the stadium. See the photo below, Rich Sweeny is the one “Tebowing”. We arrived back at Galen’s house about 12:15 – 12:30 where Carol (Galen’s wife) had a GREAT lunch ready for everybody. All in all it was a great morning for a ride, fellowship and food. IC3 Junior Race Results – Mt. EvansWednesday, July 27th, 2011Mt. Evans is now behind us and we had some amazing riding going on from our Juniors! Not an easy climb at all! Here were our results! JW 10-12 JM 10-12 JM 13-14 JW 15-16 Nice work everyone! We’ll be in Salida this weekend and hope to see some of you there! If not, we’ll see you at Bannock! Have a great weekend! The Hecht Family “IC3 Night” at the Table Mountain Race SeriesWednesday, July 27th, 2011Thursday August 11th will be “IC3 Night” at the Table Mountain Race Series. If you can come These races take place on the old Wheels of Thunder course (the Colorado State Patrol Training Facility) and are an absolute blast. The 6pm Thursday race is about the speed of a slower CAT 4 race. It would be great fun to race together and we could dominate the race. The races on this course are safe. The 13-14 juniors are able to enter the same race as the adults, thus everyone can race together (parents and juniors in the same race along with all other IC3ers). It would be excellent to have everyone together for racing and fellowship.
Flyer for event -> http://www.americancycling.org/sites/default/files/Site_Files/Race_Flyers/2011/2011Table%20Mtn%20FlyerFinal.pdf
From Erik Judson The race starts around 6:00PM give or take 15 minutes, and you can’t really start It would be great to have as many IC3 folks show up as possible, for His glory and have a very strong presence in the race, and for racing fellowship. 13-14 Juniors could hang in the pack too…
IC3 Rode Ride Copper Triangle route 7/16/11Sunday, July 10th, 2011I hope everyone has been able to keep dry and dodge all of this lightning. This weekend we’re riding the Copper Triangle route. We going to add a new twist on it and do the reverse version of the common route. Same amount of climbing, just not as bad since we avoid the 3000 foot climb after 50 miles. The greatest thing about this ride is that it’s FREE. This route will cost you $130 to do in August as part of the Copper Triangle event.
I received about a dozen responses from those interested in riding. I’d like to get a final list so if you’re going to come out with us please respond so we can adequately prepare for this ride. Even if you’ve already responded to my email last month, please respond and confirm if you’re coming out.
If you’re interested in coming up for a nice drive in the mountains and would like to help as SAG support please let me know. While this route can be be done self supported, it is long so it would be great to have some vehicle support in case someone can’t finish.
Location: Copper Mountain (Alpine Parking Lot) Time: 7:30 (it’s early but we want to avoid any afternoon T-Storms) Distance: Approx. 80 miles Ride Leader: Matt Otero [email protected] 303-601-6869
